It is a combination of gastronomy, wine and architecture and after the tour you will have gained a comprehensive view of what Barcelona is all about: great food, a diverse history and unique buildings and design. Your English/Spanish speaking guide is a local expert in these three areas and is anxious to share the highlights of this spectacular city in Spain. 

Barcelona is one of the most exciting and interesting places in Europe to visit. There is so much history, culture and incredible food and wine in this area that it should naturally be part of anyone's itinerary to Spain.

Your stay includes great accommodations in the heart of Barcelona, guided tours including one to the famous Boqueria market, a cooking class, a tapas tour, a tutored wine tasting and so much more. You can even choose to go to a flamenco show with dinner.

ITINERARY

 

DAY ONE

ARRIVAL

Arrival on your own to your hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner is on your own this evening but you also have the option of experiencing a flamenco show with dinner either tonight or tomorrow night (see additional cost below). We can give you many recommendations for dinner.

DAY TWO

BOQUERIA MARKET - GOTHIC QUARTER - GUIDED WALKING TOUR OF MODERNIST DISTRICT

After breakfast you will meet your gourmet expert guide who will take you to the first gastronomic adventure visiting the famous Boqueria food market. You will enjoy an incredible contrast between colors and activity, perfect to discover why Mediterranean cuisine is internationally known due to its ingredients. Your culinary expert will guide you to the best booths of fruit, vegetables, meats, seafood, bread and desserts.

After the market visit your guide will take you through the winding streets of The Gothic Quarter enjoying the Cathedral, a few churches and squares, explaining the history of Barcelona with its Roman and medieval past. In this walking gourmet tour you will be stopping in specialty food shops for tastings of Catalan cheese, charcuterie, pastries, olives and chocolates.

For lunch you will be taken to some of the numerous tapas bars to sample some of the specialties of the Spanish cuisine accompanied by delicious local wines.

In the afternoon you will have a guided walking tour of the Modernist District enjoying the famous buildings of world renowned Architect Gaudi, including Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera and Casa Batlló.

Dinner is on your own this evening.  

DAY THREE

COOKING LESSON & WINE TASTING

Following breakfast, you will head to the venue for your hands-on cooking class which is a short walk, about 5-10 minutes from your hotel. In this cooking workshop you will learn to cook a 4-course meal of the traditional cuisine of the area. Every dish is prepared one after the other, in a successive way, so everyone gets to cook and you see the whole process for all the recipes prepared. It takes around 2 ½ hours and it is followed by the meal, accompanied by wine and water. This will be an example of a set menu :
 
Tomato soup shot flavoured with Idiazabal cheese
Potato omelette with tomato bread                            
Seafood paella
Catalan cream

In the late afternoon at 6pm you will go to the location for the commented wine tasting, immersing you in a wine experience right in the center of Barcelona. You will learn about Spanish wines with four tastings accompanied by typical snacks in a unique wine shop. The wine tasting is led by an English and Spanish speaking wine expert, who will share the history of local wines and its different tastes.

Dinner on your own this evening.

  

DAY FOUR

DEPARTURE
