ITINERARY

Day one

ARRIVAL TO LISBON & SUNSET SAILING TOUR

Private transfer to your 4 star hotel, beautifully situated in the fascinating city of Lisbon. Settle in and relax.

Tonight you will enjoy a Lisbon Sunset Sailing Boat Tour with a chef on board. Depending on the dates of travel the sunset tour will start around 3.30 pm (in winter time) or 6/7 pm (in spring/summer). This 2.5 hour tour, conducted in English, includes a local guide/host, tastings of great food and panoramic sightseeing by water of many of the "must sees" in Lisbon.

The boat trip casts off near Belém Tower (in Doca do Espanhol), a privileged area to explore some of the most famous historical monuments from the calm of the Tagus River. It’s an opportunity to learn about history and Portuguese curiosities, to cruise and relax, all while eating and drinking off an exclusive menu made of one-of-a-kind tastings.

We immerse ourselves into the old part of Lisbon, namely Terreiro do Paço and Alfama. Learn how Lisbon’s port and margins evolved along the centuries, see the old fish markets, the places where Romans produced a fish sauce called garum, and learn about the richness of the Tagus river and how it all shaped cultures, battles, empires, and the cosmopolitan Lisbon of today.

Along our way, the 7 hills of Lisbon will become clearer in a continuous silhouette against the sky: See Graça, Saint Jorge Castle and some of the best lookout points that this city has to offer, like the miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara and Adamastor.

With Lisbon as a backdrop and a welcoming Port cocktail in your hand, we begin to explore Portuguese cuisine and wine.

The Lisbon sailboat tour then changes direction, and you’ll be amazed by the diversity of the landscape. On the opposite margin, you can see the old stores where Port wine and dried codfish were kept, the Cristo Rei statue, plus lots of street art and secret restaurants to make plans for.

If the weather allows, we then search for a quiet place to have a short swim (this can happen in 10% of the trips) before we gather ourselves around the table tasting a unique dish created by our chef exclusively for this trip with a unique fresh Portuguese white wine!

While eating, drinking and learning about Portuguese food, we slowly approach Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery and Padrão dos Descobrimentos Monument, an area devoted to 15th-century Portuguese sailors and known for its peculiar architectural features.

With our appetite satisfied, we sail back and enjoy the sunset as we approach our final destination.

Day Two

LISBON FOOD & WINE WALKING TOUR

Today you will partake in a delicious foodie walking tour offering the perfect balance between walking, resting, and eating. The 3.5 hour tour takes you to shops and restaurants, all run by local families featuring traditional Portuguese food. You will enjoy more than 17 tastings — and not just Portuguese snacks, but real Portuguese dishes — all while sipping some of the best wines, including a nip of Madeira or Port wine to wash it all down with.

You will explore the gastronomy of the three oldest neighborhoods in Lisbon: Alfama, Mouraria and Baixa and will take you to places you couldn't find on your own. And the food we choose for the tastings are probably things you would never order on your own!

Portuguese food has so much to offer, famous for its wine, meat, seafood, its ‘conventual’ desserts (beyond the infamous custard tart), and much more. From Mediterranean influences to the legacy of Portugal’s colonial history, namely in the wide variety of spices used, our small-group walking tour in Lisbon will leave you craving for more.

We present you with a selection of flavors, cooking techniques, and cultural influences through small plates and the right beverage (Portuguese wine, liqueurs, juices), all while wandering hidden corners of the city.

You will experience different flavors and cooking techniques through "petiscos" or Portuguese appetizers) make up our overall menu with of coursesome of the best Portuguese wines to accompany your food!

Day three

PRIVATE TUK TUK TOUR

You may have heard of "tram 28" but seeing Lisbon in this way can be challenging since it is always very crowded with lines, making it likely you can miss some of the views of the city. By choosing a Tuk Tuk tour, we assure you that you will be able to go on the same route as the tram goes, but comfortably, while listening to historical explanations provided by our team of Storytellers. This 3 hour tour takes you  through the narrow streets and most charismatic neighborhoods.

You can visit the vibrant and bright Graça neighbourhood, located on the highest hill of Lisbon. The next stop will be a detour from the route of the Electrico 28 such as the Viewpoint of Senhora do Monte, where you can take photographs over the most beautiful view of the city!

You will gain an understanding of the different layers of Lisbon, a true journey between the 6th century neighborhoods (old town), until the 20th century cosmopolitan area. The best combination to enjoy time and understanding of both sides of the city.

Day Four

SINTRA - PENA PALACE - CASCAIS - ESTORIL COAST

Today you will have a private full day tour of Sintra with a visit to the Pena Palace, followed with a visit to Cascais and the Estoril Coast. 7-8 Hours (Lunch not included)

Departure from Lisbon at 8:45am to Sintra (around 30 minutes). Sintra is a lovely place with luxuriant vegetation and unique monuments, where the kings of Portugal used to spend the summer. Listed by Unesco as a World Heritage Site, Sintra makes you feel as if you have stepped into a magical fairy tale by its palaces and forests.

We will visit first the National Pena Palace located on one of the rocky peaks of the mountain. This ancient summer Royal Palace is  a marvelous fairy tale castle from the 19th century, and one of the most important examples of the Portuguese architecture from the Romantic period and the first Romantic palace in Europe, having been built about 30 years before the charismatic Schloss Neuschwanstein, in Bavaria.

Then we will head to the historical center of Sintra for a small walking orientation tour. You will have time to have lunch on your own and explore the medieval narrow streets and taste the local pastries, the "queijadas".
